Named after the granite mountain rocks which resemble the mitre’s of three popes on the farm of Drie Papen Fontein, this wine stems from vines planted in deep, iron percolated soils. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot displays a deep red colour in the glass with mulberries, blackcurrant, cinnamon and a touch of vanilla on the nose. It has a structured palate with concentrated layers of dark fruit and plums followed by balanced firm tannins– indicating great aging potential. Drink now or keep up to 2026. Only 4 barrels were made.

The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were picked from the highest potential vineyard in the cool climate region of Darling. The Cabernet Sauvignon was hand sorted and fermented in open top tanks with pump-overs to extract concentrated fruit and tannin for aging. The Darling Merlot was fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. Both components were aged in 225L French oak barrels, 100% new barrels for 18 months before blending and bottling. Only 4 barrels were selected for the final wine.
