Fairview Darling Riesling 2022

IN THE VINEYARD

Harvested from vineyards just outside Darling on the cool-climate West Coast.
These unirrigated vineyards were planted in 2003 on dark, red Oakleaf soils,
approximately 3oom above sea level.

WINEMAKING

Picked in the early morning at 22,7 balling, the grapes were whole bunch pressed, after which the juice was allowed to settle for 48 hours before being racked off into stainless steel tanks and cold fermented. The fermentation was stopped early, giving the wine a natural sweetness.

TASTING NOTE:

Citrus, white peach and jasmine flower notes on the nose. A semi-dry entry on thepalate, with refreshing tropical fruit and zesty lime acidity. Riesling ages well but canalso be enjoyed in the next couple of years.

FOOD RECOMMENDATION:

Thai, Cape Malay cuisine and chili-based dishes make a delightful partner for thiswine, as the sweetness balances out the hot spiciness. Riesling also goes down adelight with Fairview’s goats milk Camembert cheese.
