7 days of a week. 7 colours of a rainbow. 7 continents. 7 seas. 7 wonders of the world. 7 heavens. 7 deadly sins. It is well known that, of all numbers, there is no one which has exercised a wider influence, no one which has commanded in a higher degree the esteem and reverence of mankind, than the number 7.
Nowhere was this more evident than in our very own cellar, where our 7-strong winemaking team decided to come together and create a blend using each of their own favourite varieties: Shiraz, Pinotage, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Tannat, Petite Sirah and Grenache. As the third edition in our beloved Broken Barrel range, this remarkable, full-bodied red brilliantly highlights the sheer drinkability of a modern blend. Showing cherry fruit with vanilla and cinnamon spice on the inviting nose, the balanced palate has fresh red fruit with more savoury flavours, finishing off with matured, smooth tannins. In our opinion, this wine really shows the power of the magnificent 7.

The grapes were hand-harvested, destalked and lightly crushed, where after it was fermented in open top fermenters. Manual punch downs were done during fermentation. The wines were then racked off the skins and sent to barrel for malolactic fermentation and further ageing. Each wine component for the blend was matured in French and American oak for 24 months before blending and bottling.
