Gold with a touch of pink or onion skinned. Herbs, fynbos, lime and honey suckle aromas entice the nose. A fresh style fermented in neutral oak barrels with zesty minerality and a subtle floral note typical of the Darling region.
Gryskop (or Grey-Head in English) pays homage to the distinctive grey-blue colour of the Pinot Gris berries from our Darling vineyards together with the iconic granite boulders that are situated atop the rolling hills of the farm. After the severe droughts that have ravaged the area recently, the vineyard has struggled to produce consistent yields which has contributed to a few extra, unwanted grey hairs for our cellar team! In 2020 the vineyard was able to transcend the drought and produce fruit of exceptional quality. The deep onion skin colour in the glass is a spectacle to behold and one that reminds me of the final setting sun rays over the Gryskoppe of our Darling vineyards.
