Grapes were hand picked and sorted into bins. It was punched down twice a day during alcholic fermentaion after which it was basket pressed into older barrels for malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in a barrel before being racked for bottling. The wine was bottled by hand as only 60 bottels were bottled.
The colour is intense dark red in the glass. Nose has aromas of black cherries, mulberries, juicy red currants which follows through on the palate. The dark fruit is balaced by fresh acidity and soft, juicy tannins.

In our quest to bring you interesting, and obscure bottlings, we come to you with another unusual variety, Alicante Bouschet. Alicante Bouschet is a Petit Bouschet and Alicante (Grenache) cross created by Henri Bouschet. Interestingly, this is a teinturier variety and has red flesh and juice with ripening, one of only a few varietals to possess this characteristic – this results in a very dark wine. The vineyard plantings in South Africa are as scarce as the 60 hand-bottled bottels produced for Bloemcool in 2018.
