Our Daily Bread | Wheat Harvest 2018

Fairview Wheat Harvest 2018

Our Daily Bread | Wheat Harvest 2018

Usually around this time of year, we’re getting ready for our annual grape harvest. But this year, we’re also preparing for a different kind of harvest – our first wheat harvest!

In late 2016, Charles – always brimming with innovative ideas – decided to plant wheat on some of our farm lands. His reasoning for this was simple – it was the next step in fulfilling his farm to fork philosophy. Over the years, our Goatshed Restaurant and Fairview Deli has served and stocked our farm-made cheeses, our wines, and our olive oil, jams and spices. While our bakery has always been serving up fresh artisanal bread, we needed to outsource flour to meet our demand. Now, for the first time, our first wheat harvest will allow us to make some of our bread from grain to ciabatta!

With this in mind, we’re planning a celebration at Fairview on Saturday 17th November 2018. Details below:

OUR FAIRVIEW BREAD MARKET

Date: Saturday, 17th November 2018

Venue: Fairview Tasting Room
Time: 10am – until sold out!

Tasting Room Offering:
Come enjoy an artisanal bread market in our Fairview deli from 10am. We’ll have a large selection of our breads on sale, and yes – There will be plenty of tasters available!

If you’re in the mood to get your hands covered in flour, join us for our Ciabatta Baking Demo at the Goatshed Restaurant (be sure to book!):

CIABATTA BAKING DEMO

Date: Saturday, 17th November 2018

Venue: Goatshed Restaurant
Time: 10am – 12pm
Cost for bread baking demo & breakfast: R250pp

Come and join Ignus, our talented baker, in the Goatshed for a ciabatta baking demonstration. Ignus will show you the ins and outs of breadmaking, and you’ll get to take your handmade loaf home.

Once you’ve built up your appetite enough with the smell of freshly baked bread, it’ll be time to sit down to a hearty Goatshed breakfast, which will (of course!) include freshly baked bread (and we mean FRESH – baked while you watch the demonstration!). Once you are done, finish off the day by heading for a complimentary standard wine and cheese tasting, included in your price for the demo.

Tickets available on Quicket.
Only 20 spots available!

If you’re gluten-intolerant, don’t stay away – it’ll be business as usual on the farm, and we’ll have our classic wine and cheese tastings available for all to enjoy.

See you soon!
