5 STARS in UK DECANTER MAGAZINE – April 2011 edition

“Cool and complex nose of ripe stone fruit, herbs, guava, nettles and pear. Some attractive grip and distinct skin contact apparent on the palate. A fresh, vibrant and fruity wine with chalky minerality, excellent balance and a long juicy finish.”

Vineyard sites:

The grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Piekenierskloof near Citrusdal, as well as the Fairview farm in Paarl

Winemaking:

This wine is mainly fermented in stainless steel tanks, with a small portion of barrel fermented wine for added complexity. After blending, the wine spent 3 months on the lees in tank before bottling.

Tasting note:

An aromatic and fruit-filled nose, with a layered palate of apple and pear, hinting at a little oak influence. Fresh acidity is well-balanced with a ripe structure and attractive depth.

WINE ANALYSIS:

Residual sugar 3.4 g/l
Total acid 6.4 g/l
