Over the past five years, Fairview has been developing relationships with a number of the leading wine importers in the Asian market. Fairview owner Charles Back recently visited the region to support the importers and learn more about their markets.
This was Charles’ first trip to the region and included Thailand, Hong Kong, China, South Korea and Japan. During the visit Charles spent time doing tasting and training with the sales teams as well as presenting his wines at various dinners and events. The region has seen very encouraging growth in sales of South African wine and there are still many opportunities to develop this further. The trip was very busy and included many engagements, but of course there was also time to learn more about the culture and wine markets of each country, and to get to know the local cuisine a bit better.
